A Boutique Reset

Maddie’s on Main is officially under new ownership, but rest assured, the core of the business that Chelsey built remains the same! Meet Sarah and Jake Garrett. Sarah is tackling owning a small business like a boss. Her transition has been good and she has felt tremendously supported by her village and the community.

The things you’ve been worried about, the brands, JUDY BLUE specifically, are remaining! Sarah is taking Maddie’s and adding a little bit of Sarah to the biz. Same brands, more vendors, more to try and love.

“I want to keep the feel the same in the front of the store of what Chelsey had, however, I would like to see some other brands brought in…just adding some more of me to the Chelsey vision and what she created here.”

Sarah views Maddie’s on Main as a family opportunity. She saw how much Chelsey and her family poured into the business and wanted to keep the business the same in that vein, as a small local family-owned shop that invests in the Marion community. She was inspired and motivated by her son to take on this role, saying that stepping into this role means being the best mother she can be for him.

Maddie’s on Main will be officially re-opening September 26th under new ownership, so make sure to be there next weekend to support them! For the full interview, check it out on our Facebook or Instagram page!

When a beloved local shop changes hands, everyone quietly hopes the new owner understands what made it special. I believe Sarah does. She felt what Chelsey created and chose to protect it, keeping the brands you already come downtown for, while adding some of her own personality to the mix. Honoring what people love and building from there is exactly the instinct you want in a new owner.

What stayed with me most was why Sarah wanted this. She saw how much Chelsey and her family poured into Maddie’s, and she wanted to keep that same spirit alive as a local, family owned shop that invests in the Marion community. Her deepest motivation, though, is her son. Taking this on is part of how she wants to show up for him, and that kind of purpose is hard to fake. You can feel it when you talk with her.

Maddie’s on Main reopens September 26th. Make next weekend the one you stop in, introduce yourself to Sarah, and find something you love while you are there. Saying yes to something this big takes real guts, and the best thing we can do is show up for her early and often.

Better Together,
