June is National Soul Food Month, and nobody does soul food like Chef Chris Rennick from Attaboys Comfort Cuisine. When Chris first came to Marion, he knew we were missing soul food. His food has a unique take on southern traditions with some Philadelphia spin on it. That formula has stood the test of time, remaining a staple in our downtown dining! Attaboys offers a daily special that’s always a great deal and delicious. From gumbo to shrimp and grits, Attaboys provides the ultimate comforting home cooking experience. His claim to fame is the amazing fried chicken, but Chef Chris has recently been adding some new things to the menu, so you’ve got to check it out when you get the chance and spread some of the love down West Center Street!
It is NOT easy running a restaurant, and Chris started before the downtown had the momentum and belief that it has today. The fact that he’s been in business for 8 years is a testament to how he has continued to grow and adapt, and I’m proud to be able to continue to support him.

People like Chris Rennick are the reason I get up every day. I love entrepreneurs and small business owners. They add so much not only to our downtown community, but also our city, our county, our state, our country, and quite literally, our world. Small businesses are the backbone of economies, innovators of technology, builders of community, and the people running them inspire me to think bigger, reach higher, and work harder.
